The Highway Gallery is available for hire to community organisations, schools and colleges, individual artists, craft, photography, historical and other interested groups.
There are two main galleries, each approximately 8 metres x 4 metres, with a total of 41 linear metres of display walls. Further display space (in smaller sections) may be available in the rear part of the Gallery. Five lockable glass display cabinets of different shapes and sizes can hold small or precious items. Small tables, square and round pedestals of various height are available for the display of e.g. ceramics or small sculptures – ref. photo below. The Gallery is air-conditioned and fitted with flexible, effective lighting, hanging and security systems. Exhibitors frequently use additional displays of images or video on computer screens and facilities are available to project such images on a wall or screen. For meetings, workshops there are a number of folding tables and 35 standard plastic chairs. An adjacent garage can be used for limited temporary storage when required for setting up and taking down displays. Where windows provide additional light, full height adjustable blinds are fitted. The Gallery has a reception desk (office corner on the plan) and kitchen for openings and special events for which a public address system is available.
