Embroidery for Hearth & Heaven

An exhibition honouring local resident Dr Morna Sturrock AM, a gifted embroiderer, co-founder in 1960 of The Embroiderers Guild Victoria, Patron of the Victorian Quilters and the Waverley Patchworkers, a former journalist, Life Member and Patron of the Waverley Historical Society Inc.  Morna has asked that this honour be shared with her talented friends, some from The City of Monash and members of The Embroiders Guild Victoria.

Exhibition dates: Saturday 23 June – Wednesday 11 July 2012 with the Official Opening on Saturday 23 June at 4pm by The Revd Nigel Wright. Opening Hours: Tues to Sunday 12-5pm

The Highway Gallery needs your support!

The Highway Gallery, home of Waverley Arts Society (W.A.S.) is currently being run by a small W.A.S. sub-committee. This hardworking and dedicated group need your support if the gallery is to continue.

We want the Gallery to survive. If you do as well, please join us! Let’s keep this important community facility open. Volunteers are needed to help man the gallery during opening hours. This is quite a pleasurable experience and a very worthwhile one. There are 12 roster slots (2-3 hours each) per week.

Can you can volunteer to sit once per fortnight or once per month? Or even occasionally? This would still be a great help.

ROSTER BOOK

A blue Roster Book is now permanently located on the desk at the Highway Gallery. We encourage everyone to call into the Gallery or phone during opening hours to see if there is a roster position you can cover.

Volunteers are welcome to work in pairs with friends or family members. You are welcome to bring a good book to read, the paper, a hobby or some things to catch up on and help the Gallery at the same time. Music, tea and coffee facilities are provided. A Volunteers’ handbook containing helpful guidelines, checklists and committee contact details is available for all volunteers.

So please consider sitting the Gallery and helping us to keep this important community resource open.
